World Environment Day Celebrations at MWCJ
“5th June - World Environment Day (WED)” is the UN's most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. WED is celebrated for creating awareness and bringing positive change towards environmental sustainability complementing perfectly with our Rise Pillar of Driving Positive Change.
This year’s theme for WED is #BeatThePlastic. In addition, the host country for this WED is India which makes us, as corporate citizens more responsible towards this cause. This year we organized a Dual celebration.
First, we organized a Tree Plantation activity with our Customers Employees near the Water Body in MWCJ Campus. We had an overwhelming participation of over 100 volunteers from 10 Customers in the scorching heat of Rajasthan at 44 Degrees. Keeping in mind the #BeatThePlastic theme for this WED, there were small sustainable steps taken in preparation for this activity as mentioned below:
- Banner printed on Canvas as opposed to Flex containing plastic.
- Recycled Paper Cups were used for serving beverages as opposed to plastic disposable cups.
- Cotton Towels were provided for wiping hands as opposed to tissue paper.
The second initiative for implementing the #BeatThePlastic is that we have replaced all the Plastic Water Bottle provided for MWCJ associates with Steel Bottles. Our aim is to reduce the disposable plastic usage in our office to Zero.
Looking forward to the same enthusiastic participation and we will together aspire to make a positive difference. “We are the world; we are the Children. We are the ones who make a brighter day; so let’s start giving.”
