Mahindra World City Chennai clean Veerapuram Lake, launch tree plantation drive to mark World Environment Day
Mahindra World City employees, school children, local community members along with World Vision India, give Veerapuram Lake & Children’s Park a facelift
Chennai, June 05, 2017: Mahindra World City, Chennai (MWCC), in association with World Vision India and the local community, today successfully launched a tree plantation drive at Children’s Park in Veerapuram and also conducted a mass cleanup of Lake Veerapuram. The initiative taken up on World Environment Day, aimed at educating the community, including children to support a healthy environment, protect trees and pledge towards planting additional trees.
The community was also made aware about the advantages of environmental protection. The activity witnessed volunteers from multiple walks of life such as school children, MWCC employees, Forest Range Officer, and the panchayat members, joining hands towards achieving a common goal of promoting a green and safe environment for our children and communities.

MWCC’s initiatives are aimed at improving public spaces through basic infrastructure provision, renovation efforts, tree plantation and cleanliness drives. On day one of World Environment Day initiative, nearly 250 volunteers participated in the cleaning of lake and planted 150 trees, resulting in a major facelift in overall appearance of the lake.
