Building a responsive city

We can build cities and buildings that are more responsive to us. This responsiveness can be to citizens; to people inhabiting the buildings; and to local conditions, which is important in countries like India. We can sense a lot about our buildings and our cities using networks and sensors, and use this information to respond in real time. This is akin to architecture that adapts better to the things we love!

The layer of ‘smartness’ in cities across the world is because of the convergence of the physical and the digital world. But the ultimate goal of smart cities revolves around people and improving quality of life. At the same time, when we look at Sustainability, it is a way of development that will not jeopardise future generations. Sustainability is key to cities and must be at the center of every new urban development project.
