MWC Chennai 14th Anniversary Celebrations
Mahindra World City Chennai celebrated its 14th Anniversary on 29th September, 2016. The occasion was marked with Celebration, Music, recognitions and entertainment.
The evening started with traditional lighting of the lamp by SmtNithyashreeMahadevan; Ms AnupamaBhagwat;Dr. Jochen Stallkamp, MD, BMW India;Mr B S Rao, MD, Mecaplast India; and Mr Vivek Sharma, Business Head, Mahindra World City, Chennai.
Mr Vivek Sharma, Business Head, MWC Chennai delivered the welcome address and spoke on MWC as an example of sustainable urban development while emphasizing the importance of nurturing cultural and social processes to build a vibrant community. Mr Sharma also shared a special message from Mr Anand Mahindra, Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra &Mahindra on the occasion of our anniversary celebrations.
The evening celebrated spirit of oneness by felicitating winners of Champions Trophy - MWC Badminton Tournament & 1st MWC Photography Contest. The audience were enthralled as students of Class X and Class VI, Mahindra World School performed two lively and spirited pieces specially choreographed for the MWC Anniversary Celebrations.
The main performance of the evening was "Jugal Tarang", aunique alliance of Carnatic and Hindustani Maestros who presented a Delightful evening of Classical, Ethnic Fusion and Contemporary music. The artistes for the evening were Smt Anupama Bhagwat (Sitar),Smt.Nithyasree Mahadevan (Vocal), Shri U Rajesh (Mandolin), Shri Ganesh Kumar (Kanjira), Shri Shubankar Banerjee (Tabla), Shri Hari Krishnan (Keyboard) and Shri Kishore (Keyboard). They started their performances with the ever popular raga "Hamsadhwani" and continued with a few classical renditions. One of the highlights was the high energy Fusion medley "Fireflies". The much loved "Sindhu Bhairavi" was the penultimate piece and a medley of Nithyashree’s film songs formed the grand finale.
